The Giving Pint ("The Giving Pint," "we," "us," or "our") is a craft-based vocational apprenticeship program serving adults with autism and learning differences. We are committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who interacts with us — including program participants and their families, donors, volunteers, funders, newsletter subscribers, and visitors to our website. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices available to you.
By using our website, subscribing to our communications, donating, volunteering, or participating in our programs, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not provide us with personal information or use our services.

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

● Program participant information: information related to enrollment and participation in our apprenticeship programs, including information relevant to Self Determination Program (SDP) services, regional center coordination, accommodation needs, and progress documentation, where applicable and with appropriate authorization

● Communications you send us: messages submitted through contact forms, email, or social media
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you visit our website, we and our service providers may automatically collect:

1.3 Information From Third Parties
We may receive information about you from third parties, such as regional centers, referring service coordinators, family members or authorized representatives, event partners, or payment processors, where necessary to deliver our programs or process a transaction.

● Deliver, coordinate, and document participation in our vocational apprenticeship programs
● Communicate with subscribers, donors, and participants, including newsletters, appeals, program updates, and event invitations

● Regional centers and funders: with regional centers, government agencies, or grant funders when required for service authorization, billing, or reporting related to a participant's program (limited to what is necessary and authorized)
● Professional advisors: with our accountants, auditors, or legal counsel as needed
● Legal requirements: when required to comply with a subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of The Giving Pint, our participants, or others
● With your consent: for any other purpose disclosed to you at the time we collect the information, or with your explicit permission
We may share aggregated or de-identified information (which does not identify you individually) publicly or with partners, such as in impact reports or grant applications.
4. Data Storage & Security
We store personal information using reputable third-party platforms (such as donor management, email marketing, and cloud storage providers) that maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
Program participant records containing sensitive information (such as SDP service documentation) are stored with additional access restrictions, limited to staff who need the information to perform their duties.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected individuals as required by law.
5. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, including maintaining donor and program records for accounting, tax, grant-reporting, and legal compliance purposes. Program participant records are retained in accordance with applicable regional center and SDP documentation requirements. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to securely delete or de-identify it.

The Giving Pint's programs serve adults. Our website and communications are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will delete it.
